We offer One on One training as well as Group Training Programs. This is NOT a big box gym or a place to just come in and get lost. Kettlebells have become more popular today than ever before. A 'kettlebell' or girya is a traditional Russian cast iron weight that looks like a cannonball with a handle. They date back to at least the 1700's and other versions may even be much older. They started showing up in the United States in the early 1900s and were a tool that strongmen used. Eventually they faded out into the rusty corners of YMCA's and older gyms. In the 1990s they were reintroduced by Pavel Tsatsuouline. His introduction has now changed the face of the Kettlebell in the United States. Pavel went on to start the RKC certification, the elite provider of kettlebell instructor training.
Why Kettlebells?
As Pavel says the kettlebell is a low technology tool with high functionality. The displacement of the weight and handle are very unique and allow the kettlebell to be used to produce large amounts of force with the least amount of harmful stress to the joints and structure of the body. The kettlebells can be used for specialized work with post rehabilitative clients as well as increasing explosiveness in elite athletes to conditioning the average person without the high impact on the joints.
When using the kettlebell as a tool for conditioning and fat loss the benefits are superior to other forms of conditioning. Recently ACE fitness conducted a research study through the University of Wisconsin on kettlebell training and conditioning. They used the RKC VO2 max protocol.

Kettlebell training offers the benefit of these types of training without the wear and tear on the body and joints while actually being used as tool to teach healthy movement and also build strength. If programmed the correct way kettlebells will improve strength, cardiovascular conditioning, fat loss, and endurance therefore challenging all of our energy systems. Yes this means that you will burn fat with Kettlebells.

There are numerous trainers that use kettlebells in town, we specialize in Kettlebell training bottom line. Other philosophies use them inappropriately and put clients at high risk for injury. We don't dabble in kettlebells we specialize in them. Danny Sawaya is only one of a handful of Level 2 RKCs in the state of Arizona, and has been asked to be an assistant instructor at other RKC and StrongFirst certifications.
What is RKC / STRONGFIRST Certified:
RKC is the most intensive and thorough Certification for Training professionals in the industry. It is a certification that is not just about Kettlebells. The RKC prides itself on teaching the science and art form of human movement, Strength Training, and Conditioning.
RKC and StrongFirst instructors are required to re-certify every two years by attendance at a kettlebell certification workshop, either as a participant or in the role of an assistant instructor.

Here is Danny Sawaya's story the Owner of Evolution Fitness. As a professional personal trainer with degenerative disc disease in my lower back I have experienced lower back pain for years and and spent large amounts of money on chiropractic care, orthopedic consults, massage therapy, and MRIs. After numerous episodes, I finally hit a wall. Continual setbacks in my workouts lead to me losing motivation to workout at all. As a trainer I felt like I should be able to figure it out. I tried numerous stretches which ended up stretching the wrong things and put me into worse pain. I then dedicated myself to studying the human body deeper than I ever had. I attended numerous educational events and I learned how all of the muscles in the legs, hips, glutes (buttocks), lower back and abdominals all work together. I started to put some workouts together with stretches and stabilization work. After utilizing these techniques on myself with great success I started to hear potential clients tell me of their lower back issues setting them back with working out. I started using these methods on my clients with great success. **
How is Evolution Different?
Our philosophy is that of teacher rather than just a trainer. It is like the story of feeding someone or teaching them how to fish. We want you to feel empowered and able. Yes, in the beginning we will be assisting you in stretching and very hands on, but as your body begins to adapt we will then teach you the drills to carry with you for the rest of your life. Many people call this type of training post rehabilitative training, we choose the term corrective exercise because it is exercise not therapy.
How long will it take before I see improvement?
This really depends on the individual. You have spent years earning your dysfunction, so the problem may not go away over night. I do know that after a few sessions clients usually report feeling “really connected to their body” and have some new awarenesses of their body. Remember, this is a process to change how your body moves.

We work with your body to strengthen your deep core muscles then strengthen and condition on that foundation. Though you may sweat a bit in those classes, do they really offer results? Sure the music may be good and it may be fun, but If sweating was the only aspect to a good workout then I would just sit in the Tucson sun for about 5 minutes a day to get fit.
